YLAB ACADEMY, South Korea's largest professional educational institution for Webtoon and digital content creation, has introduced Clip Studio Paint volume licenses to their classrooms. This streamlined plan is designed especially for businesses and educational institutions. We spoke with Kim Eunji, an instructor at YLAB ACADEMY about the decision to introduce Clip Studio Paint and plans for using the software within their curriculum.
 

Out of the many graphic tools available, Clip Studio Paint is the most optimized for creating Webtoons and illustrations. As well as affordable implementation costs, it offers a range of innovative features that enhance efficiency, such as 3D models, vector layers, and effective fill tools. Another deciding factor was the app’s constant improvement, with regular updates that reflect user feedback.

The greatest advantage is how easy and simple it is to draw features specific to Webtoon and manga, such as panels, speech bubbles, and focus lines. While these may require manual drawing in other apps, in Clip Studio Paint, they can be added at the touch of a button. That’s a very unique strength.

Another factor is that Webtoons require a vast number of assets to add depth to the story, so the abundance of materials available for free is quite attractive. In addition to the default 3D materials, patterns, and brushes that come with Clip Studio Paint, we also have access to a wide range of materials created and uploaded by users all over the world. This helps us achieve the essential goal of work efficiency in Webtoon production, all while increasing the quality of output.

Because Clip Studio Paint has so many features, some students who are new to it can find it challenging. However, once they learn the main functions through our lectures, they seem very satisfied with the useful tools and the professional results. We’ve seen a very positive response overall. Many students who have experienced the efficiency firsthand expressed an interest in using the app for their personal art too, and we’ve had inquiries about the purchase options and versions. 

The introduction of Clip Studio Paint at YLAB ACADEMY supports a practical educational environment that is in line with professional workplaces. We will continue to support the school's curriculum and provide ongoing support as a key infrastructure for efficient and high-quality Webtoon production.
