Clip Studio Paint releases a major version upgrade each year. The major version upgrade released in 2025 (Ver. 4.0) was well received by creators for the new features. Thanks to a worldwide promotional campaign, we increased revenue and the number of users, exceeding the expected number of units shipped. We expect a similar effect with the major update to Ver. 5.0 available today.
With Clip Studio Paint Ver. 5.0, we continue to provide a one-time payment option sold alongside the subscription version. Its purpose is to maximize revenue by augmenting the subscription model, contributing to revenue through promotions for user acquisition and meeting the needs of users who are resistant to subscription models. With the one-time purchase version, users can gain access to later new features via an add-on subscription plan or a one-time upgrade fee.
In order to improve profitability and ensure the continued provision of services, the price of the one-time purchase version of Clip Studio Paint is also being revised upwards by an average of 10% worldwide.
