Footage capturing the process of drawing manga in outer space has been released as part of Kodansha’s “Mission: SPACE COMIC,” the first attempt by humans to draw manga in space, a project in which CELSYS, Inc. (the “Company”) is providing technical support.

This project is a special initiative by Kodansha commemorating the release of the final volume of the manga Space Brothers (Uchuu Kyoudai), which has been loved by many fans over the around 18 years since it was first published. Utilizing the Kibo paid program (*1) provided by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) for the Japanese Experiment Module “Kibo” on the International Space Station (ISS), a demonstration of remote drawing in space was done using the robotic arm installed inside Kibo. The Company provided technical support for drawing with Clip Studio Paint, an app for creating illustrations, comics, webtoons, and animations.
