Clip Studio Paint, Celsys' illustration, comic, webtoon, and animation app, sponsored a cross-editorial Portfolio Review organized by the Overseas Manga Talent Development Committee Office that is jointly operated by Coamix Inc. and Kadokawa Media House Inc., at Anime Expo 2026, one of North America’s largest pop culture events, which was held in California in the United States from July 2.
This portfolio review event was held as part of the "Manga Talent Development Project for Overseas Promotion," a talent development initiative utilizing the Japan Creator Support Fund, which was established within The Japan Arts Council with a subsidy from the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
On the day of the event, 12 editorial departments from Japanese publishing companies attended: AKITASHOTEN Co., Ltd., Coamix Inc., SHONENGAHOSHA CO., LTD., SHINCHOSHA Publishing Co., Ltd., TAKESHOBO Co., Ltd., TO Books, Inc., NIHONBUNGEISHA Co., Ltd., HAKUSENSHA Inc., Futabasha Publishers Ltd., BUNKASHA PUBLISHING CO., LTD, HOUBUNSHA CO., LTD, and LEED PUBLISHING Co., Ltd.
Editors for professional manga artists provided direct feedback on the work submitted by participants, offering specific advice and feedback through an interpreter. Celsys gifted Clip Studio Paint to all event participants.
In recent years, Japan’s content industry, in which overseas sales have grown rapidly to about 6 trillion yen (*1), has rising expectations for further global expansion.
