Celsys provides file format “xdts”, a standard file format for digital exposure sheets, to assist in the digitization and streamlining of the production process at animation production sites.

“xdts” is an open format that is not dependent on a specific software and that anyone can develop and implement. By utilizing this standard file format, animation studios can improve integration with other process management tools in the production of commercial animation and other projects, optimizing the entire animation production workflow and increasing productivity.
 

• Automate routine tasks with smooth data integration across production tools

The information on the digital exposure sheets can be exchanged through a common format, which allows for smooth data integration across different tools and systems. Automation tools and scripts can also be used to check processes and create exposure sheets, reducing administrative costs and increasing productivity.
 

• Supports digital production flows

To coincide with the release of the “xdts” files, the "Toei Animation Digital Exposure Sheet" developed by Toei Animation, which went through testing with Celsys to create a versatile and flexible workflow for animation production, is available for free. This incorporates a familiar workflow for animators into the digital production process, where timing and instructions are checked on an exposure sheet as they work. This contributes to the smooth digital transformation of animation production.

“xdts” files can be imported and exported with Clip Studio Paint, which is used to create animations at commercial animation production sites.

Provided from 2019, “xdts,” the standard file format for digital exposure sheets, is utilized across a wide range of creative fields, including animation production. Celsys will continue to update it for further improvements to the production process.
