Celsys, the developer and distributor of the comic app Clip Studio Paint, and WEBTOON Entertainment,  a leading global entertainment company and home to some of the world’s largest storytelling platforms, formed a business alliance in September 2021 with the aim of increasing the efficiency of content production, translation, and distribution, bringing new energy to the market at large.
 

 
Celsys’ app “Clip Studio Paint” is used by more than 50 million creators worldwide, while Webtoon Entertainment’s platforms are visited by more than 155 million users each month. This technical partnership between our two companies, both of which offer content production and distribution services worldwide, will help us streamline content creation and delivery. We aim to create an environment where artists can share their work to even more people across the globe.

As the global webcomic market has grown, efficient translation and content distribution have become more and more important. Creators around the world use Clip Studio Paint to create their comics and webcomics, with a rapidly increasing number of those works translated into multiple languages for a global audience.

Celsys developed and provided Webtoon Entertainment with a special version of Clip Studio Paint featuring an enhanced PSD (Adobe Photoshop format) export function to improve workflow of mass-producing commercial content and translating it to multiple languages. This reduced time-consuming issues such as export setting errors and made communication between authors and production staff smoother.

With the dedicated version, Clip Studio Paint format data can be efficiently exported to PSD format, widely used for translation and editing, making the translation process more efficient and enabling speedier global distribution of content.
