Total worldwide use of Clip Studio Paint, the illustration, comic, webtoon, and animation app developed Celsys, has exceeded 60 million copies(*) in January 2026. The number of new users increased due to continual updates of the product alongside sale promotions, stronger global marketing and multilingual support, and broader appeal to younger and light user segments. The ARR for SaaS services based on the Clip Studio Paint subscription model has also surpassed 5.4 billion yen.

Major highlights from 50 million to 60 million copies
Product updates and sales promotions
Ver. 4.0 of Clip Studio Paint was launched in March 2025 to positive reviews from users globally. In addition, sales regularly conducted both domestically and around the world were strong, leading to the acquisition of new users.
Stronger global marketing and multilingual support
More than 80% of Clip Studio Paint users reside outside Japan. Currently available in 11 languages, the app is used by creators of all kinds worldwide, from beginners to professional comic artists and animators. In 2025, we focused our marketing efforts on acquiring new users, especially in emerging countries, and the total number of subscriptions increased. We have also added Thai, Indonesian, and Brazilian Portuguese versions to Art Rocket, our drawing tutorial and art advice site for creators.
Support for a variety of devices and expanding user base
We continue to expand and improve the functions and features for tablets and smartphones to encourage bundling with tablet devices from various manufacturers and to appeal to younger and light user segments.
Breakdown of the latest 10 million copies: Growth in emerging markets
Users in Latin America and Southeast Asia, especially in emerging countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Thailand, and the Philippines, where we are currently focusing our marketing efforts, accounted for about 24% of the total units from 40 to 50 million. However, for the latest 10 million units, that percentage grew to about 34% in the latest 10 million unit breakdown, with a growth rate of about 1.4 times.
